Saintpaulia

An indoor house plant Saintpaulia plant is a flowering plant, which belongs from “Gesneriaceae” family and scientific name of this plant is “Saintpaulia ionantha” that is commonly known as “African violet”.  It has green colored leaves and it blooms in seasons of Winter, Spring and Summer. Flowers of this plant is variable in color like blue, purple, lavender, pink, red, salmon and white etc.

Saintpaulia plant likes bright sunlight, bright sunlight help to blooming flowers. In Winter, bright and direct sunlight is preferable; but in Summer direct sunlight does not tolerable for this plant. African violet plant needs well-drained moist soil. It needs quite warm water in soil, leaves must be protect from warm water either leaves can be damaged. This plant blooms well in temperature ‘between 18°C to 23°C’; below 15°C temperature can be harmful for this plant. Fertilizing in every week is preferable as its food for this plant.
