Jamun (Jam) Plants

Jamun plant is an evergreen fruit plant that belongs from family of “Myrtaceae” and scientific name of this plant is “Syzygium cumini”. In Bengali, it is called “Jam”. It very knows plant of India that is very tall plant. Fruit of this plant is called “Jamun” and it is blackish or purplish in color. Flesh of this fruit is very juicy and light purple in color. In unripe condition, Jamun is green colored and it is a one seeded fruit. The taste of this fruit is variable combination like sweet and sour. It is an ironic fruit and their seed helps to made medicine, so it is called medicinal plant.

Jamun plant needs well-drained soil and it must be moist, for moist soil it needs regular watering. Regular proper watering is essential for this plants well growth. It loves sunny weather and needs full of sunlight, it can tolerate cold weather but frost can damage this plants healthy growth. Fertilizing regularly is preferable for this plant growth.
