Astrophytum Cactus

A cactus plant Astrophytum cactus is commonly known as “Star Cactus” and “Star Peyote”. This plant belongs from “Cactaceae” family and scientific name of this plant is “Astrophytum asterias”. Some of this plant is rounded in shape and some are like star in shape. Color of this plant is greenish and brownish. This plant is a flowering plant that blooms yellowish, pinkish, greenish etc colored flowers. It produces green or pink colored fruit that is oval in size.

This star cactus or astrophytum cactus plant is a desert plant it grows well in deserted climate. In greenhouse this plant grows well and this plant needs a lot of temperature for its fast growth. It needs poor well-drained soil for its healthy growth. Full sunlight and high temperature is preferable for this plant growth. This type of cactus plant loves dry soil but poor watering is preferable for this plant growth. Very poor fertilizing is acceptable by this plant.
